Member Services

ABA provides the following services and assistance to its members as part of the membership fee with no extra costs:

  • Provides a telephone advisory service on all labour relations (IR) matters, e.g. disciplinary matters, retrenchments, disputes, strikes advice, interpretation of industry agreements and labour legislation.
     
  • Provides guidelines/examples of employment contracts, recognition agreements, strikes/picketing and retrenchments.
     
  • Provides up-to-date information to members about labour related matters within the Industry and the South African Labour arena.

Other Services

ABA is a non-profit oriented organisation and we endeavour not to burden members with exorbitant membership fees. The following services are therefore not included in the membership fee, but can be provided to members at competitive rates by ABA specialists.
  • Chairing of disciplinary inquiries
     
  • Assisting at Company level with, for example, Union meetings, consultations on retrenchments, Section 197 transfers, strikes and grievances
     
  • Negotiations at Company level
     
  • Representation at Conciliation and Arbitration
     
  • Employment Equity (analysis, recommendations and plans)
     
  • Drafting of Company Policies, Agreements and Employment Contracts
     
  • Training on IR matters and labour legislation
     
  • Provide legal opinions re labour law issues
